The WHY
Why take pictures of high school athletes when collegiate and professional sports are so much more glamorous?
Overall a little over 7% of high school athletes go on to play a varsity sport in college and less than 2% of high school athletes go on to play at NCAA Division I schools, according to scholarshipstats.com.
What happens to all of the rest? Their glory days are numbered. My job is to record those days so that they can relive those moments for years, even decades, to come.
It is estimated that a student going through the ranks of youth, middle school, and high school sports pay upwards of $150,000 by the time the student graduates. Documenting those moments in high school has become my joy.
And who are the ones who make it all happen? The ones who drive the kids to practice. The ones who buy the shoes, and wash the uniforms, and travel to the out of state tournaments. Well, that would be mom. Nothing is more fun than watching the notifications come in that mom has downloaded 20, 40, 60+ images from the latest game.
She doesn't just download images of her child, either. She downloads images of his/her friends, because at this point, those other athletes have become family.
